Unprecedented Solutions
IntroductionHi there! I’m David Kearns, a candidate for Beaverton City Council, running to serve and uplift working-class and fixed-income families in Beaverton, Oregon.
I will always stand against abuse by ICE and fight for policies that protect the dignity, safety, and rights of everyone in our community.
My Platform
-
I will always stand against abuse by ICE and demand accountability when power is misused. Enforcement should never come at the cost of basic human rights or due process. Our community deserves justice, transparency, and respect.
-
Every human deserves the right to a reasonable standard of living regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ability, or immigration status. I will always fight for the interests of the working-class Beaverton residents.
-
As the cost of living explodes and wages stagnate, we are pricing out our working-class, retired, disabled, and other marginalized communities. While Beaverton is in a budget deficit, this should not be balanced on the backs of the very people we should support the most.
-
All residents deserve to have a voice in their community. This cannot happen if our local government and public services are obscured by complicated and inefficient processes. Additionally, without active outreach, our community will never know the resources that are available to them.
CommitmentsThese commitments are rooted in what I’ve heard from the Beaverton community and the values that guide how I show up and lead. As your Beaverton City Council candidate, I will carry them into office and be held accountable to them every day.
I will fight for official and policy-backed protections and accountability measures to protect any person residing in Beaverton from ICE and Border Patrol.
I will always fight for the interests of the working-class Beaverton residents.
I will actively propose and support policies that protect and elevate Beaverton’s marginalized and at-risk communities.
I will never accept donations from corporations, PACs, or organizations that threaten Beaverton’s communities, local businesses, or our environment.
I will oppose policy that seeks to balance the city’s budget on the backs of Beaverton’s marginalized and at-risk communities.
I will propose and support policy that funds our city’s services from the astronomical profits of the corporations that benefit from our city’s infrastructure.
I will oppose the city entering into contracts with monopolistic private entities.
I will work with members of the community to understand and participate in Beaverton’s government, public services, and community resources.
I will make myself accessible and accountable to my constituents through town halls, meetings, calls, and emails.
I will actively seek out connection to communities that have been historically ignored or exploited by politicians
I will aggressively pursue audits of city contracts with private-sector vendors.
